Department for Elementary and Secondary Education Research

Outline of Research and Programs

The tasks of furthering basic research to inform planning and policy development for elementary and secondary education, and accumulating outcomes of such research, are gaining heightened importance in light of the recent calls for quality assurance and enhancement of compulsory education. The Department for Elementary and Secondary Education Research seeks to address this need by conducting studies on issues such as improvement of continuity and linkage between the different levels of the school system, appropriate operation of school evaluation systems, verification of the effectiveness of small-group education, and teacher training and skills enhancement.
